The above website can be used to access the rule proposed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service regarding "Regulations for Managing Resident Canada Goose Populations."  The proposed rule would turn over management of resident Canada goose populations to state wildlife agencies, which would negate the need to obtain a FWS permit to conduct management activities on resident goose populations.  Resident Canada geese would be defined as Canada geese nesting within the conterminous US in the months of March

through June or residing in the conterminous US in the months of April through August.

 

Management practices listed in the proposed rule include the destruction of nests and eggs (which should include infertility agents)as well as lethal practices.   The comment period deadline for the proposed rule is October 20, 2003.
